INTRO
Hedgehog is a marketing agency looking to challenge the conventions of its sector. Rather than adopting the familiar digital, abstract and trend-led aesthetic associated with many contemporary agencies, the ambition was to create a brand that felt more distinctive, aspirational and grounded in the outdoors. The identity positions Hedgehog as a strategic partner that helps businesses find clarity, direction and a way forward.
THE CHALLENGE
Most marketing agencies operate within a relatively narrow visual language, making it difficult for brands to establish a distinctive position. Hedgehog wanted to move away from these conventions and create an identity with greater emotional resonance and a stronger sense of ownership. The challenge was to communicate strategic thinking and confidence without relying on the usual visual shorthand of the sector. The brand needed to feel calm, intelligent and considered, while introducing a more expansive, outdoor-driven perspective.
THE SOLUTION
I developed a visual identity centred around the idea of marketing as navigation, creating clarity, finding perspective and helping businesses move forward. The logotype is deliberately bold and restrained, using strong typography and balanced proportions to create a sense of quiet authority. A modern sans serif, generous spacing and disciplined grid system establish a clear editorial feel, allowing the content to lead rather than competing with it.
Photography became an important part of the visual language, using simplified landscapes, aerial perspectives, quiet horizons and natural forms to create a sense of space and perspective. Soft light, muted tones and generous negative space provide a calm backdrop for typography and subtle graphic elements.
Together, these elements create a distinctive brand that feels less like a conventional marketing agency and more like a strategic partner, calm, confident and focused on helping clients find their direction.
